Chronicle of Muskiz
La Forja de los Cuatro Elementos
A tale of mythology, industry and territorial balance.
Journey through the awakening of Amalur and the call of the elemental guardians.
Chapter I
The Legacy of Amalur
Countless cycles ago —long before iron was smelted and mountains were drilled— the Earth spoke with its own voice. The ancient Basques called it Amalur, Mother Earth, the origin and refuge of all that exists. Within it, life, water, fire and air coexisted in perfect harmony, like an ancient balance that needed no understanding, only respect.
Its breath spread through the damp forests, slid along the rivers and broke on the waves of the Cantabrian Sea. It rose to the summits and rested in the valleys, holding every stone, every root and every creature. There was no place that did not feel its presence, no silence in which its heartbeat could not be heard.
Those who knew how to listen understood its signs: the murmur of the wind through the leaves, the creak of the earth underfoot, the constant sound of water on its journey. Everything was part of the same ancient, deep language that bound people to the nature surrounding them.
Deep within the earth, hidden from human sight, beat a heart of eternal fire. It was not a fire of destruction, but of transformation: the force that shaped the rock, fed life from the invisible, maintained the balance between the elements. That heart was guarded by primordial energies, silent keepers of the natural order.
For generations, that balance remained intact. The earth gave, the people took what was needed, and everything returned to its origin. It was a continuous cycle, an invisible dance between what is born, grows and returns.
But even the most ancient balances depend on the memory of those who inhabit them… and not all were destined to remember.
Chapter II
The Forgetting of Men
As the years passed, people forgot the ancient rites and stripped Amalur of its riches: minerals, water and forests. Mines and foundries sprang up around the Barbadún valley and the Cantabrian coast.
Tunnels were hewn, furnaces lit, and the rhythm of iron gave way to the metallic heartbeat of industry.
What began as a necessity slowly transformed into ambition. Where once only what was needed was taken, now men sought deeper, faster, more intensely. Mountains were torn open, rivers diverted to feed the machinery, and forests surrendered their timber to support and fan the forges.
The valley changed its voice. The murmur of water and the whisper of wind were replaced by the constant hammering of metal, the creaking of structures and the incessant glow of fire. Day and night, without rest, the earth was worked, drilled and transformed.
Iron, which for centuries had lain hidden in the bowels of Amalur, began to emerge in vast quantities. With it came progress, wealth and power… but also a silent wearing away, almost imperceptible at first.
Few paused to listen to what still remained of the ancient voice of the Earth.
For Amalur was still speaking.
In every crack that opened too wide, in every altered current, in every breath of air that no longer flowed the same. But its warnings were lost in the roar of the furnaces and the ambition of men.
And so, almost without anyone noticing, the balance began to crack.
Chapter III
The Awakening of the Spawn of the Depths
In the deepest tunnels beneath the iron forges, where the smelting of iron mingled with fire, water, air and earth, an ancient rock wall fractured. The crack tore the veil between the visible and the hidden.
For generations, that barrier had remained intact, sealing something that was never meant to be reached. But ambition knows no limits, and the men, blinded by the promise of one last seam, dug deeper than was wise. Every blow, every explosion, brought the inevitable moment closer.
Until the earth gave way.
It was not just a break. It was a tear.
An impossible silence swept through the tunnels before the world changed. The air grew dense, the fire unstable, the water drew back from its course and the rock itself seemed to shudder from within. Something ancient had just awakened.
From it emerged Hesteak, the Demon of the Depths, a being forged from the abandonment of the four elements, thirsting for imbalance and destruction. It was a living, shifting shadow of flame, feeding on the fracture between what should have remained whole.
Its presence did not impose by force… it infiltrated.
It absorbed the will of men, feeding their greed, pushing them to dig more, burn more, never stop. Under its influence, coal burned without measure, furnaces roared out of control and the air grew heavy, laden with a constant whisper that no one could understand… yet everyone obeyed.
The balance Amalur had maintained for cycles began to break apart rapidly.
Rivers swelled with unexpected fury. The wind shifted course. The earth trembled beneath the feet of those who still did not understand what they had released. Fire, once controlled, began to devour without distinction.
Its return made the mountains and the Cantabrian coast tremble.
And for the first time in generations, Amalur fell silent.
Chapter IV
The Guardians of Amalur
To fight the darkness, the most ancient spirits of the earth awoke: the Guardians of the Four Elements.
Chapter V
The Quest of the Four Elements
Your journey will begin by following the whispers of the elements along the paths and trails of Muskiz. Each step will bring you closer to a fragment of Amalur, each fragment hiding the strength needed to face the demon.
The Castle
Deberás buscar entre muros centenarios la chispa de Iratzar, el Fuego Interno de Amalur.
The Coast
Escucharás la voz del Cantábrico para encontrar a Itsasargi, el Agua y Viento.
The Valley
Atravesarás puentes antiguos y humedales hasta sentir el latido de Barbadun, la Tierra Viva.
The Mountain
